Shitlocks are so gross, but if you're going to do them, do them the oldschool way. Don't wash your hair and twist them into little sections.

Just not washing doesn't work very well, and takes for ever. You can do it your self natually . It consists of a lot of weaving and teasing of your hair . There must be a step by step online . If you want to get them done in a shop . They are going to make your hair nappy, with chemicals . So if you want to do that . the store on on rideau and dalhousie called ebony something.

good luck

pm if you want any more info .

Definite oxymoron.

Unless you gots curly hair just not washing it will probably leave you with one big dread. You need lots of backcombing and beeswax and probably forever(or as long as you have them).
I had long ass dreads for a year or so. After I cut them out I had to use special medicated dandruff shampoo for a few years before my scalp got back to normal.

Hey guys, I'm a semi-professional dreadlocks specialist in Ottawa.

First of all, not washing your hair is a myth. You can grow dreads just by not *combing* your hair (and the results are always really unique), but it takes a couple years and you still need to wash your hair. Dreadlocks are just ropes of knots. Dry hair + friction = dreadlocks. Greasy hair doesn't dread nearly as well. Water also encourages knots to form. Anyone who's gone swimming with long hair will tell you that.

I also highly recommend *against* wax of any kind. Putting anything sticky and hard to remove into your dreads is a bad idea. It also limits the friction of your dreads, which prevents them from getting tighter over time. Instead of wax, you can use crocheting to make your dreads look tighter, and that's a service that I offer for really cheap.

Dreads can be a completely clean hairstyle, but there is a lot of misinformation out there. Feel free to message me if you have any questions about dreads, or visit my site at doclocks.ca for more info.
